Total Group sales up 6.7 per cent with like for like sales down 1.2 per cent
In the five weeks to January 2 like-for-like sales were down by 1.2 per cent. The HMV CD and DVD chain in the UK and Ireland saw like-for-like sales rise by 2.2 per cent.
International like-for-like sales were down by 3.7 per cent as Waterstone’s saw an 8.5 per cent fall.Total sales were up by 6.7 per cent, with HMV UK reporting a 14.6 per cent rise, boosted by a strong performance by Zavvi stores and temporary Christmas outlets.
Waterstone’s total sales were down 8.6 per cent reflecting like for like sales decline of 8.5 per cent.
