Since its launch in May 2003, LinkedIn has been a professional networking site with a recorded 660+ million registered users. When setting up your account with LinkedIn, you may come across some minor difficulties that you will be able to overcome after reading this article.
Complete your Personal Profile
The important thing about using a Social Networking Site is to make sure that your profile is 100% completed and updated on a regular basis. When updating your profile, make sure you include your work title, company you work for and most importantly your website/blog address so that your visitors can experience all your hard work.
You must also consider an appropriate profile picture and regular status updates to make your profile more user friendly.
Creating a group
Creating a group is an essential part of your LinkedIn experience. If you are looking to make a connection within the LinkedIn community, you can; share recent blog posts, create discussions, and add job postings – what more could you want?
Once you have created your group, you should add your blogs to the discussion page in the group to give you the professional feedback that you may have been missing. Make sure that your group has an appealing name and picture to avoid it being overlooked by fellow users.
Being a member of a group
Creating your own group may not be enough to get you networking; you need to be a member of many other groups to fully experience the world of LinkedIn. Having the connection with other groups will ultimately increase your profile views which will be beneficial for your own profession!
Responding to Questions
The ability to ask and most importantly answer questions will help your profile’s credibility. LinkedIn offers you the powerful tool to show your fellow users how knowledgeable you are in your area of profession. Answering questions positively and effectively will give you and your profile the extra boost in visitor hits and may even earn you more work outside of LinkedIn.
Making New Connections
LinkedIn is first and foremost a networking site. By this I mean that it allows users to broaden their professional network by connecting with many other qualified individuals. Once you have made various connections with industry professionals, you will then be able to pass on your knowledge to their connections too.
An overwhelming estimated 44% of your LinkedIn connections are found through Industry Colleagues. Get networking now rather than later, you never know what lurks behind that networking request!
Research
Now you have set up your account, created and joined a group (or many if you are a quick worker), connected with industry professionals and become a professional ‘Agony Aunt’, you can begin your Research. Being a member on LinkedIn, you have the ability to research companies, competitors, potential job candidates and more! The best thing about Research is the power of knowledge. Learning from professional like yourself is the key to success!!
As this article comes to a close, the most important tool that you need to keep your LinkedIn profile successfully working is time. Browse the LinkedIn website and get involved with the community that needs your insight the most. Are you ready for the LinkedIn experience?
