Being on page one of Google is crucial for growing your business. Did you know that the top three organic positions for a search, receive 58.4% of all clicks? This is according to a recent study conducted by Optify.
Websites ranked number one, receive an average CTR (click-through rate) of 36.4%; number two, 12.5% and number three had a CTR of 9.5%. This is a huge amount of traffic, and proves why being on the first page of google is so important.
YOU can do this for your business. Every Friday I am going to be sharing real life examples on how you can build your business online, in just a few simple steps.
Let’s get you on page 1 of Google for three of your keywords.
- Build Your online profile
It has taken me years to build my online profile. I now have 17,000 followers on Twitter, 5,000 connections on LinkedIn, 100,000 views on Slideshare along with 1,000’s more followers across Google+, Pinterest, Facebook, Instagram, Vimeo and YouTube.
To get your business on the first page of Google for three keywords, you need an engaging online following. You won’t be awarded this position by Google if you aren’t seen as a thought leader for your keywords, in your industry. Brand awareness is crucial.
- Have a purpose
Why do you want to be on the first page of Google? What do you want to achieve? Do you have products/services to sell and know this is how you are going to reach your target market? Have a purpose and make sure this is what is driving you and your business forward.
- Start with your Website
You have an online presence and you know WHY you are doing what you are doing. Now you need to look at your website. If you don’t already have one, I highly suggest you make that your number one priority. There are some great website builders, for a small monthly fee. Do you research and find the one most suited to solving your customers pain.
If you have a website, how could you improve this? It needs to look appealing and to avoid bounce rate, a quick load time. Your website must also be responsive.
- Do your Keyword Research
Your keyword research should be done through Google’s Keyword Planner Tool. When you research a keyword, it will give you other phrases which people use to find the searched keyword. This should be done for all of your keywords.
As part of my re-branding, I had to go through doing this research again. If you were to search Social Media Speaker, Growth Accelerator Coach or Growth Voucher Advisor on Google, I will come up on the first page of search results. I have embedded these keywords on my social media profiles, website content and in step 5; my social media posts.
- Posting across multiple channels, especially Google+
You need to be building a linkwheel of keyword communication across your multiple social media channels, especially Google+. Google owns Google+ so if you are posting your keywords on this social network, and already have the online influence I spoke about in step one, you will be on the first page of Google.
